The Lazy Person
God and Work Proverbs Ch.6 v.6-11: 6. Go to the and your lazybones; consider its ways, and be wise. 7. Without having any chief or officer or ruler, 8. It prepares its food in summer, and gathers its sustenance in harvest. 9. How long will you lie there, O lazybones? When will you rise from your sleep? 10. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 10. and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want, like an armed warrior. We are all, I guess, lazy in some way. Some more than others, some who’s laziness shows more prevalent than others. Like myself for instance, I have a terrible habit of procrastination, I would put things off until the last second. But usually the last second doesn’t come because the end result of my procrastination or laziness for the task has come first. Seeing our tasks and responsibilities with the end result in mind should be on our thoughts and minds as we are considering the task and responsibilities at hand. This should be a great motivator for starting and completing our tasks and responsibilities, well before the last second, even before it needs to be completed. We reap what we sow, and God will bless those who are hard working, I say this to myself as a reminder that I will reap what I sow and God will either look on my with favor if I work hard or I will be tormented and cursed for being a lazy procrastinator. Most people apparently don’t like their work but we all have Bills to pay, would we be better off and happier out of that job? How then would our Bills get paid? Would we be happier at our jobs we may not like with our Bills being paid, food on the table and a roof over our heads or would we be happier out of that unhappy job we don’t like with out bills mounting, Utility Services being disconnected, and facing eviction or foreclosure. But hay at least we can sleep in, relax, snack and watch our Soaps and put our feet up, oops. No we can’t, because the Cable is disconnected for unpaid bills, we can’t afford snacks, and where will we sleep in or put or feet up, on a rock under a bridge on in an alleyway!
The Successful Person There is one common denominator for all successful people. They are all willing to work long hard hours and they welcome work as part of their daily lives. To be successful, find what you are good at and were your interests or God given abilities and talents are at. In these areas you will find that you have the most energy and are willing to give the most time, this is where your ambition, desire to work hard and work motivation will be.
The Motivated Person Is there a lack of motivation? What is out attitude towards hard work? Not just Physical or Mental Tasks but also Spiritual Tasks. What motivates us in our jobs, are we motivated to work hard and do a good job, do we feel motivated in our jobs.
The Slug and the Lazy man What was God doing at the beginning of creation? God established a pattern of Working and Resting. The Day of Rest, one day set aside each week for rest, the other six were for work. Work is NOT the result of Sin(fall of man), God even gave Adam and Eve Tasks and Responsibilities. But work wasn’t intended to be groveling and toiling by God, this part is the result of the fall of man. Even the Saints in Heaven do Work and Service to the Lord God. Laziness is Sin, it is a refusal to attend to God’s given Tasks and Responsibilities He gives and entrusts us with. Perhaps this is why the one who has much is given more and the one who has less, that to is taken from them, this seems to also apply to an entire Country.
Character of the Sluggard Proverbs Ch.6 v.9:. How long will you lay there, O lazybones? When will you rise from your sleep? The Lazy Sluggard wants short term pleasure, wants work to be short term as well, will try to do as little as possible at work, or at the most just his or her responsibilities. Always saying that they are ready to go home when it has only been a few hours at work so far that day. The Lazy Sluggard will put off and procrastinate at almost everything. From something as simple as taking out the garbage or paying their Bills. Which is usually as result of lack of money which there is understandably financial situations and it is expensive there days but a lot of the time their lack on money is an end result of their laziness to work hard.
Procrastination is Satan’s tool Sloth’s
put off until tomorrow and they refuse to start things that they know need to
be done. This tool that Satan uses limits our blessings that God has for all of
us. We can be our own worst enemy when we are like the Lazy Sloth, God has so
much for us and we cannot blame or say that God doesn’t bless us, it could be
our own Laziness, we need to be proactive is we are to be blessed financially.
God blesses the Hard Worker who has their own Business or is in a good position
at work because they worked hard to get there and got up at
Lessons for the Sluggard Work like an Ant, work hard, and work together. An Ant works without supervision, they get the job done and they get what needs to be done at the proper time. They work ahead of time, we need to plan now. If you want to see God’s intention for your/ our lives fulfilled we need to work like the Ant. And for some poverty is through no fault of their own, for others like the Lazy person, it comes as a result of their own actions. God wishes to Bless them, as He does for all of us but he can’t because of their own Laziness, “They are their Own Worst Enemy”.
All hard work leads to Profit, all mere talk leads to Poverty.
