We are Not Abandoned by God ?
It’s in those times in our Lives when God seems distant to us, almost silent when we feel Abandoned by Him. This especially hurts during the Hard Times of our lives. It is during these times that we cry out to God the most. We ask ourselves; why is this happening to me, to us? But we need to ask ourselves; why are we not always in deep need and desire of God’s Presence in our lives?
It’s easy to Worship God in Church with a smile on our faces when our Lives and Situations are in the up-in-up. But during these ‘Golden Times’, do we truly spend Quality time with Him, is our Worship of Him, Praises and Song, is it truly from our Hearts or are we just Caroling along with the rest of the Church Service?
NRV Bible (Psalm 102 v.1) Hear my Prayer, O Lord, Let my Cry come to You.
We usually don’t Pray this, or this way with this kind of Passion in our Hearts, or something like this during the ‘Golden Times’
NRV Bible (Psalm 102 v.2) Do not hide your Face from me in the Day of distress. Incline Your Ear to me; answer me speedily in the Day when I call.
Sometimes it takes a Downturn or Negative Event for God to get our attention, to wake us up and remind us of His Presence. In these situations God really has our attention, we will either ask for His Help, His Forgiveness or for God’s Guidance, or we simply Complain and curse His Name, usually the latter.
In my own Life; I spend more time with God when time and situations are not going too well. When I’m distressed, depressed, worried, nervous, or all of the above. During the Good Times of ‘Worldly Blessing(s)’ i.e. Good Stable Job, Good Health, Lots of Money, I have the routine habit of; not forgetting God completely, but my Closeness and Relationship with Him becomes very lukewarm. This progresses to a point that I think hypothetically, I could forget God’s Presence altogether. Although it hasn’t gone this far as something always comes along to wake me up to God’s Presence, that He is in Control of all things as all things are His and through His Word came all things.
I’ll use this as an example:
It’s like when you were a Child and you were looked after by your Parents or Guardian. We in most cases, but not in all, didn’t thank Mom or Dad or whomever for providing for our needs and more. When things or events weren’t in our favor, i.e. we didn’t get that ‘Shiny Red Bicycle’ for our Birthday or Christmas we wanted; instead we got Clothes, Socks and Underwear. Then we certainly Verbal in our Complaining showing our ungratefulness with all our Hearts and Soul, Physically and Emotionally. A total Drama episode on the Living room floor.
This example in the same way applies to our Relationship with God. We tend not to Thank Him and or Praise Him for providing our needs, and more often we slip in our Spending Quality Time with Him. It’s when those Blessings; the Good Stable Job, Good Health, Lots of Money, etc. begin to slip away, even just a little sometimes completely slip away that we Complain to God, like the Child to the Parent.
NRV Bible (James 4 v.8) Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
God wants to Bless us in our Lives and in all that we do, but most of all He wants to have a Relationship with us that is not based on how things are going or on how mush ‘Worldly Stuff’ we have accumulated so far. It is God’s right to take away (for a time) what He has Blessed us with as it is all His anyways. If we are not thankful for all that He has done for us or if those things are taking away from our Relationship with God, (i.e. Car, TV, Internet, Money) if we are not Praising His Name and giving Him the Glory that He deserves for what He has done for us all. ALL OF US!
He gave His only Son Jesus to die for our Sins so that we could have forgiveness, the ultimate sacrifice for us all. What He is asking of us is minute by comparison to what Jesus did for us, all of us.
God wants to have a Stable, Communicative Quality Relationship with us at all times, good times and bad times. He wants us to Praise Him, spend Quality Time with Him, talk and Pray to Him through Prayer or Bible Reading or Study, first and foremost before all other responsibilities we have each day. To thank Him for all situations the Good the Bad and the Ugly, to thank and Praise Him for it all.
His silence may simply be His way of reminding you that He is there with you, if it takes His silence for you to take notice or a situation for you to be reminded of Him then that is what it takes.
All things come from God’s Word as all things were Created through God’s Word. It only makes sense that He would have full and total control over all things that through that we can be Blessed as God so desires for all of us. All that he wants is our attention.
Amen
